EP 217: 3 Things to Do Before Paying for Tik Tok Ads
Thinking about paying for TikTok ads to promote your esthetics business? Before you put $25, $50, $100—or more—behind a video, there are a few things you need to know.
In Episode 217 of the Stephanie Laynes Institute Beauty Business Podcast, Stephanie shares 3 things every esthetician and beauty business owner should do BEFORE paying for TikTok ads.
Because paying TikTok to show more people a bad video doesn't magically turn it into a good one.
Before you advertise, your content needs a purpose, a clear audience, and proof that people actually want to watch it.
📱 3 Things to Do BEFORE Paying for TikTok Ads
1️⃣ Make Sure Your Video Is Ad-Worthy
Before spending money, ask yourself:
What do I want someone to DO after watching this video?
Book an appointment? Buy a product? Visit your website? Follow your page?
Your video needs a clear purpose and a clear next step. If viewers don't know what to do when the video ends, paying for more views probably isn't going to solve the problem.
2️⃣ Tell People WHERE You Are
If you're an esthetician trying to book local clients, your content needs to make your location clear.
Don't make potential clients search for it.
Include your city and state in your video, caption, profile, or call-to-action so the right people immediately understand that your business is available to them.
3️⃣ Let Your Analytics Tell You the Truth
Your analytics don't care how much you love the video.
If people aren't stopping, watching, engaging, clicking, or taking action organically, think carefully before turning that content into an ad.
Don't automatically pay to push content people have already shown you they don't want to watch.
Your organic content can help you identify the videos that deserve additional advertising dollars.
💰 You Don't Need a Huge TikTok Ad Budget to Start
One of the biggest misconceptions about advertising is that you need thousands of dollars or an expensive agency before you can learn what works.
You don't.
You can start small.
You can test.
You can make mistakes.
You can study your analytics.
And you can use what you learn to make your next campaign better.
The goal isn't simply to say:
“I'm running TikTok ads.”
The goal is for those ads to produce an action that matters to your business.
🚨 Remember: Views Aren't the Goal
10,000 views with no bookings isn't necessarily better than 1,000 views that produce five new clients.
100,000 views with no sales doesn't automatically make a successful campaign.
Before you advertise, determine what success actually looks like:
📅 Appointments
🛍️ Product sales
🔗 Website visits
📲 Leads
💰 Revenue
Then create your content—and your ads—around THAT objective.
